Although I am not too much of a whiskey drinker, I really like the ISE Sphere Executive Ice Mold Whiskey Ball Ice Mold Set. You get two big ice sphere molds so you can make two large ice balls measuring 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
One ice ball does a very nice job of keeping your drink cold. These ice sphere molds are very easy to use. When you first get them you should give them a quick wash, then fill with hot water up to the line. Once filled, put the top back on. A small amount of water might come out the hole onto the top of the mold, but you can either tip the mold to pour it off, or just leave it. Either way, once your mold is filled just place it into the freezer until solid. I left mine overnight and they were perfect.
To unmold these, just run the mold under warm water for a couple of seconds to loosen them up, then pop the top off for a quick and easy removal. The set comes with two molds, but if you would like to make more than this, you can remove the first ones from the molds then set them onto a silicone mat in the freezer until the edges are good and solid, then pop them into a bag or other container in the freezer until you have the required amount of ice spheres.
I'm thinking that these would be a welcome addition to a punch bowl too. I was thinking of freezing some of the ice balls to float on the top of the punch bowl. You could make them from water if you like, or use juice so that your punch stays cold for a long time yet does not become watered down as the ice melts. I will be trying this for our next gathering as I am sure it will be a big hit.
Whether you use these for alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages, or in a punch bowl, or even for bigger, longer lasting ice cubes for your cooler, I think you will be just as pleased with these as I am.
