Whether you are serving drinks to adults or kids, these SUMPRI Premium Sphere and Cube Ice Molds make wonderful ice cubes to cool your drinks longer with fewer ice cubes.
This set comes with two different molds so you can make cubes or spheres that are way more fun than standard ice cubes. Each mold has 6 compartments so you can make either 6 giant ice cubes or 6 giant ice spheres.
These are made of silicone, and are easy to use. I think most of us already know how to use an ice cube tray for square or rectangle cubes. This one isn't much different in shape but since it is much larger you will need to freeze it for a longer period of time.
The one I like the best though is the one for making spheres. At first I was a bit intimidated by the shape of these, but quickly learned that these are not difficult to make. Just fill the mold with water, then place the top piece of the mold onto the bottom. The inner channels will make sure that the pieces line up smoothly and that there won't be water leaking out the sides. You will likely get some water leaking out the top holes, but this is nothing to worry about and is expected. Setting the tray on a plate or other flat surface in your freezer will help to insure perfectly shaped ice spheres.
Because these cubes and spheres are so much bigger than your average ice cubes, there is plenty of room for additions such as mint leaves or fruits. I like to add berries, watermelon balls, citrus slices, or pineapple chunks to my ice balls but there are so many other wonderful additions depending on what type of drinks you like.
In a bowl of punch you could make your spheres out of most any of the punch ingredients to help retain flavor as the ice melts. This won't happen quickly though since these ice spheres can last up to ten times as long as standard ice cubes.
I like to add a bit of interest by adding a second color such as red ice spheres in an orange punch, and perhaps a but of mint in the spheres for added interest as well. Any way you use them, these are fun. I'm very pleased with my ice molds and I'm sure you will be too.
